I have a 06 Amarillo 350 diesel and those fog lights in the grill I was wondering if someone new a trick on how to overide them so they will work on high beam as well and 1 other question can the bulbs be upgraded to a higher wattage and brighter bulb? thank you very much if anyone can help!
Check with Dieselsite.com since they have what you want. It is called a BriteBox and allows the fog lights to stay on with the high/low beam headlights. A word of caution - the high/low beams together can distort or melt the plastic headlight bucket. I only use my BriteBox for short periods of time and never during the Arizona summers.
Do not install higher wattage bulbs since this will cook the buckets even faster and by themselves.
There is a cheaper option. I do not have the details, maybe someone will post, but you can ground a wire from your fuse box under the dash and the fogs will be on anytime you turn the switch on.
I run 9005 Silverstars in my foglights and have for nearly 3 years. It does not distort anything. The bulbs DO burn out in about 10-11 months due to the higher heat but it doesn't hurt the plastic any that I can tell.
I thought that britebox was for keeping high and low beams on at the same time, but I've never really looked into it.
Why is it you lot all have to drive at night with your fog light's on ?. Especially when there is no fog . All it does is blind on coming drivers, because 9 times out of 10 none of you buggers have the lights set properly, and are shining up instead of to the ground. This is really my number one pet peef. I drive a semi at nights all the time and it sure is no fun getting blinded all night long. Don't get me wrong, semi truck drivers are just as bad, especially the " New " breed.
OK that's off my chest, have a good turkey day.
That was awesome guys thanks for the help! Now would i be pushin it to find a "Cheaper" alternative to keep low beams on with high beams as the brite box does or do i have to fork out the 120 for that and once again can I put higher wattage bulbs in the fog lights down below i believe they are 17 watts now right?

There are cheaper options:
We offer a 9007 harness with Hi/Low option (Allows the low to stay on with high beam):

[QUOTE=CrazyKen] Why is it you lot all have to drive at night with your fog light's on ?. Especially when there is no fog. [QUOTE]
I set mine up to run both so that I can see the road better (both roads to my place are horrible, torn up, pot holed out pig trails) and still have my brights on so I can see down the road far enough to not hit the deer/dogs/high-school-aged-vandals-stealing-street-signs further on .
But then again, I don't see many semi's out here. And really..... it IS a mod right? Something to do that's new. I grounded out the wire in the fusebox to get mine running. Anyone know what kind of switch I would need to wire in to be able to change the fogs on/off with the brights? I'm guessing a single pole double throw? Common is the wire coming out of the panel, Conection A is the ground to run the fogs/brights and Connection B is the original wire to cut the fogs on bright.
From what I recall/kinda understand the trigger for the fog light relay is the warning lamp for the brights, so the circuit should just be a 12V with hardly any power in it. I should be fine with any changeover type switch right?
When I bought my 05 SD the first thing I noticed was how poor the lighting was. My preious vehicle was an 03 Expedition and the lights on it were pretty good. I immediately purchased some Eurodezign 8500 bulbs for my fog lights on Ebay for about $13 and what a difference they made. A very bright, white light. At the time they did not make the bulbs for the headlights, but I see they do now. I will be ordering ASAP. If you want a quick, cheap, plug and go fix, I would recommend the Eurodezign. My son has the same bulbs in his 05 SD and likes them as well.
The problem is not the bulbs. Its the voltage to the bulbs. That can be better fixed by adding the 9008 upgraded harness. It raises the voltage from ~11V to 13.8V or what ever you battery is capable off. Never install any bulbs on your main headlights that are rated higher than 55/65 watts.
