i replaced my differential a couple months ago and i have shaking when i drive. i have clunking when i shift into drive(not reverse). i thought it might be my U joints so as i disconnected the drive shaft from my front diff. i noticed my diff has about 45 degrees of play!? i dont think that is normal. is there something i did wrong when i put the new one in? or did i just crapped out at the junk yard and i should get another! PLEASE HELP!!!
Your front differential would not have any influence on your driving unless you have it engaged in 4X4. It sounds like the ujoints are bad for your rear driveshaft and they are pretty easy to check for excessive play. You rebuilt the rear diff yourself?
no..junkyard diff. the arm broke in half so no possibility of rebuild. rear u-joint was replaced because that was the first thing i thought of. but should the differential have play? that is what i need to know. it's still under 90 day warranty so should i just exchange it? also it didn't clunk before the replacement. i put a new pinion seal on rear, it dont clunk in reverse, only in foward and only when RPM are above 1200.... thanks...g
