Bedliners?

Okay, sp my bed is rusty... and actually has rusted through a little at the front (right behind the cab) - could I do a spray in bedliner and some bondo or something there? How much do these usually run, and what's better, the spray in, or drop in?

spray in by far...much better than any drop in...I'd use line x or rhino liner...many have used it to "stop" rust from spreading and report good things with it. I've had it in my nonrusted beds before and it beats anything! but don't get the cheap roll on out of a can kind...if your gonna do it, do it right and have a pro spray it...about $300 around here, but they'll even do over the bed rail to make it look nice if you want. its solid stuff...never had any issues with peeling, cracking or fading...some report this...but I'd have to wonder about the quality of the application and prep.

problem with most drop ins...water gets behind or under them and only makes your rust problem much worse!! not to mention most are slick and your junk slides around everywhere.

Spray in is overpriced and you're trying to cover up holes. Do the drop-in.

I've had drop in liners in trucks for a long time, never had one cause rust. Bought a new liner for my 77 yesterday, took 3 minutes to put in and cost $145.

Well I would say put metal in to repair the rust and then do the bed liner! I have used the out of the can stuff in my bed and in the cab and had great results! You have to do the prep work in your case start with rust repair good washing then after dry sand with 100 grit sand paper. vacume dust from sanding after you remove the dust take some denatured alcohol (no residue left) and wipe down the area you will be coating. Ok do the large areas with the roller do not use a brush use a sponge to get in the corners and body lines allow to dry. Reapeat the application process about five times to get a nice thick coat! Had the truck for about three years and then sold it the guy bought just because the interior when I did the cab I removed the seat tore out the carpet and plastic trim vacumed. Then sanded and vacumed and of course the alcohol wipe down. After the application reinsalled the trim and seats! Ok as I said at least five coats and in between coating allow four to five hours to dry after the coat dries rough sand wipe with alcohol and repeat till you get the last coat done

It's a classic liner, made by Penda. My local truck accessory place ordered it Tuesday, got it Wednesday.

I see a price of 354.80 on the internet--of which 148.61 is shipping. For a Penda liner for my short box 92.
You say that you got yours for 145.00. Did you buy it from a national chain store?? If so--what is the name of the store??

Another option for the drop in bed liners is to go to the place that sells the spray in liners and ask if they have any old drop in liners out back they will sell, this will save you lots of money, the place here where I live periodically has to have someone haul off the old liners to save them the disposal costs and they have been known to sell a used one when they can.
