76 Vin Id

VIN F26YCA81543 WB 133 TYPE F261 BODY EG4
TRANS G DSO 531241 COLOR Blank

can someone explain these codes for me please? They came off a 76 250 that my dad ordered straight from the factory. He ordered it in a metallic green color and with a radio and therefore the factory wouldn't put the mirrors on it and instead just laid them on the seat for him....It's kind of an odd story

Thanks

Yes, slang term "High Boy"

It was common to leave the mirrors off the truck for railcar and truck car-hauler travel.

Nothing odd about it.

Every Ford truck sold from day one has the mirrors in a box or wrapped in plastic inside the cab. Ford doesn't install the mirrors, the dealers new car get ready department does.

There are several reasons why mirrors aren't installed at the factory. One of them has to do with shipping the vehicle. Mirrors stick out beyond the body, and can/will get damaged during the shipping process.

Reason two: While some ppl want the mirrors that come with the truck, some don't and want trailer towing mirrors, etc. If Ford installed the factory mirrors, and the customer didn't like them, then there would be holes to fill, and the area repainted.
