I had to remove my stereo to work a vacuum leak in the heater control system. We had a heck of a time getting the radio out - the spring loaded tab on the right side was broken and stuck behind the plastic cover. We were prying gently on the top of the radio during our extraction. Long story short, we got the radio out, fixed the vacuum leak and put it all back together. But now the clock stay on even with the key off. The accessory delay runs the radio, windows etc and the radio goes off when the door is opened. But the clock stays on. The stereo is the am/fm/cd/cassette model. I really can't remember if the clock was always on with the key off. Anyone else out there with a '02 F250 super duty lariat? Is the clock on or off or did we bugger something up taking it out?
I could wire in a switch but then I'd have to set the clock every time I turned it back on. That would be a pain. I was just thinking about using a solar panel I have to charge the batteries, at least that would work during the day. I'm thinking the drain would not be so bad that the truck wouldn't start sitting over night.
I could always spend $150 and get used stereo off eBay but that's a lot of cash to get the clock to turn off!

hahaha seriously I don't think the clock would be a big deal if it is a daily driver. Sounds like something shorted out on the radio did you disconnect the battery before pulling it out?
Have you checked the owner's manual to see if there is a combination of buttons that could be pressed to cause the clock to stay on even when the switch is off?
Disconnect that batteries ... that's for wimps ... no fun in that
It is a daily driver so it would be charged frequently
I looked in the owners manual but it didn't say anything about a setting that would allow the clock to always be on. A quick Google also came up empty.
Thanks for the feedback ... anyone know if there is a combo of buttons that could have done this?
Try disconnecting the battery for about a minute or two now. Something in the radio's microprocessor probably got jumbled up when you either disconnected or reconnected the power. If your truck is a diesel, disconnect both batteries.
Good idea. The post need cleaning anyway ... they look pretty grubby.
I forgot to mention, when we first powered it back up after reinstalling it, we did successfully set the clock using the clk button. Now the clk button is inoperative - maybe killing power will fix that

Reason: forgot something
Hitting the clock button while the truck is turned off will make the time display for a short period of time. From your symptoms it sounds to me like this button is stuck.
I didn't get a chance to disconnect the batteries yet - it's -22 degrees C outside today ... ouch.
After exercising the button a bit, it now works as described in my manual to set the time (phew). If the clk button is not pressed the tune and scan buttons work normally. When the clk button is depressed, it now does set the time. It must not be stuck down for the tune/scan work properly when clk is not depressed. I was wondering if it was stuck down myself. The clock always on problem persists
No doubt ... I'll bet that when I use my remote starter and forget to put on the E-Brake, the day time running lights that come on drain more juice than that clock would in a month!
