where can i find a new or rebuilt 1 barrel carburator? i have rebuilt the one i have probubly a dozen times plus the bar that holds the air cleaner is brokin so repairing the one i have is out of the question, and i would really like a new or remanufatured one.
you can prolly fina a new bar in a junk yard to hold up the air cleaner. the carb is a carter im guessing. prolly any decent part store will have new ones
well see its not just the bar its where the bar is screwed down to the carb itself, it has a nice lookin crack right through the hole so it is pretty much a gone
Carter has been long gone for some time. Part stores usually have Basic rebuilt units. I remember paying around $270 for mine(YFA), but I kept the old core (YF) for that 'just in case' day. The problem with the rebuilt carbs is that you will have to swap any brackets and controls (ie dashpot, idle solenoid) from your old carb to the newer one. I've been lucky, but their has been some people here that haven't had the best luck with their rebuilds and often have to go back for another - kinda like altenators....if you find an old specialty carb & electrical shop, you can get the brackets and goodies new on the carb, but you'll pay. For the money, it almost makes sense to go with an offy and a 4 barrel. Or you could always find one at the junkyard and rebuild it.
