as some of you may know, i am in the process of replacing my injector sleeves (at a slow rate due to lack of large enough garage and consistency of rain) i have a quick question i was debating with myself while sitting here tonight
the recommended threadlocker for injector sleeves is 620...which is rated at 450*F according to this site: http://www.glue-shop.com/9260.htm ...the Permatex High Temp Sleeve Retainer i bought is rated at 400*F...will this be sufficient or do i need to get a different compound ... i guess what im asking is will the injector bores in each cylinder reach temps of 400*F and above?
That would basically be the inner metal of the cylinder head right? I'm not sure that it would reach 400* except maybe right at the tip near the cylinder. It's got coolant and oil running through it that should keep the temps down...coolant is only about 210* at it's max in my engine...oil temp around 235*. Think about this, oil's flashpoint is not much higher than 400* and I think diesel fuel's is lower than that. If the sleeves were hotter than 400* you might have bigger problems. Still, I'd use the reccommended threadlocker over the other stuff.
