SD on news :)
The Santa Ana winds are back again, starting today, and the fire departments are staging crews all over, just in case...
We don't need to re-live the events of just less than a month ago.

No one is making light of the events that happen. They are very tragic and scary, but as truck enthusiasts, even when events such as this happen we notice things such as this...
It also akes me feel better to know I have one of the best trucks ever made, and if I had to get out of town, I could haul my family, and a lot of my things out in safety
Just my 2 cents...
California is somewhat considered a desert..Mother Nature does her thing every year to clear the wildlife through a natural process, wildfires. Now you tell me why someone would want to build there house right smack dab in the middle of these fire zones. If you don't like getting your house burnt down by these fires don't build it in a fire zone.
Its sort of like why in the world would someone build a hole city right off the coast in an area below sea level that acts like a bowl when it floods, just holds water. In case you didnt know, I am referring to New Orleans.

Yes, California wildfires are pretty crappy for everyone involved... but I guess the beauty I saw in this is:
Where's that fuel- efficient, world class unibody, beast of a honda ridgeline (or even a toyota tundra-- the half ton that can "pull" 10,000 lbs) when you need to high tail the heck outta there.
Once again the day is saved by one of the very machines our forums exist to support.
Now would'nt ya think, where all the flooding took place in New Orleans,,I mean if ya got to live there, start dumping fill (dirt, rocks, etc) along all those levees, problem areas first,,,and start building the area up,,,alot of sites need to get rid of fill,,I know it's a monumental task but it would be a start. Why would anybody build anything starting at, 5' Below sea level,,along a coast,,in a Hurricane prone area ??
Same with Fire prone areas in Cali.,, if ya gotta live there,,build underground,,it's all hills there anyway, should be easy enough to excavate, and form up,,it all just takes $$$$$$. Just some quick thoughts here,,I am a builder anyway,,and I think about things like this. Hope all have a Happy ThanksGiving.
