Quick Air con Pump question

I noticed my air con pump is cycles every 5min or so, even when I have the heat on.
Is this normal operation?

I think it's supposed to if you have it set in defrost or mix, to keep the window from fogging.

At least that's what I've read here before.

It also keeps the seals alive in the system so the coolant doesn't leak out from not using it all winter. To me that's more important than it helping defrost the windows faster!

That's true dan...but it wouldn't need to cycle within 5 minutes to lubricate the seals.....the amount of pressure within the lines should take care of the seals in one or two fell swoops...Later

Oh I wasn't really commenting on the 5 minute part, just the fact the air does run when defrost is used.

I never paid any real attention to how often the air cycles on and off or how long it runs on our trucks when defrost is on.

Depending on the model it may depend on how much moisture is in the air?

That's a possibility too.....the more blowing in the more air that needs to flow through that dryer...makes sense.....I'd say the 5 minute cycles are good.......Later
