MY 1987 150 WITH THE 4.9 EFI HAS A REAR MAIN LEAK IT LEAKS ABOUT A QUART EVERY TWO DAYS=1 QUART PER 20 MILES! HAS ANYONE EVER REPLACED A REAR MAIN ON ONE WITH THE MANUAL 4 SPEED ANY SUGGESTIONS. CAN I GET IT BY DROPPING THE PAN BECAUSE 6 MONTHS AGO I JUST PUT IN A NEW PAN AND GASKET AND IT WAS A PIECE OF CAKE. ALSO ANY SUGGESTIONS ON FIXING THE (RELAY SOCKET) LOCATED ON THE LEFT SIDE FENDER WITH THE FUEL PUMPM REALY AND TWO OTHERS IN IT.ANY HELP WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED.
Youll have to remove the transmission & transfer case if its 4WD . The rear main seal is a one piece seal . Whats the trouble with the fuel pump relay wiring ?
Yeah you have to remove the trans to change that seal. Its not bad though. And you can get a new pigtail for the relay, make sure you solder the connections please. Butsplices will not work trust me, if you want to keep it from corroding again use some dielectric grease on the backs of the terminals and make sure that you put the relay back in the holder for it. Water will get into the relay and not only corrode the terminals but fill the relay with water. I have taken them off and shaken alot of water out of em....CAL
