Knocking at high RPMS

It's done it since i bought the truck, but when I get on it, but let off the gas a little you'll hear it continous knocking. Dad thinks it's the front main crankshaft bearing going bad. It doesn't do it as much when I started using the Ford Motorcraft 10w30 motor oil vs. what I put in there because I didn't know what the guy was using, castrol high mileage 10w30.

it could be a worn thrust bearing letting the crank walk...
my first guess would be piston slap.

either way, you're looking at a rebuild.

screw a manual pressure gauge in the tap and take a reading.

Well it's still running stong, never have a problem, never smokes or anything. Just a noise. I'm hoping this motor will take me a while so I can save up some money, maybe slap a new motor in there.

Think it'll be fine before i have to put a new motor in?

Well I just priced a rotating assemblies over-bore kit on jegs.

I can't shop on there, lol I want too many things!!!

Anyays, to cam it, 392 stroker rotating assemblies kit, and a set of gt-40x aluminum cylinder heads

Total: $2,928.

I figured while I'm in there, do what I want to do to it. I just want to cam it, don't really want to do the bore, but why not. and the heads would be NICE.

if the bores exceed tolerance, you have no choice.
you could do the lower
and re-do the upper at a later date.. it's nothing to pull the heads off one of these..

True, but the fuel injection makes it so much harder to do, taking off the upper intake manifold can be a pain if you're a backyard mechanic with limited resources.

Well guess I'd better start saving, while I'm in there, I might as well fix all my rigged up vacuum lines since I'll have to remove those anyhow.
