No calibration that I know of. It is not uncommom for them to just "go bad". Easy to replace and not too expensive (I think under $30 from my dealer). You might find one in a junk yard but seeing as how they are the first thing to get hit (after the bumper in a front end) I don't know if I'd trust any of them.. Good luck.

How long was your drive? It sounds like it was climbing, but just taking a while? I have it where mine seems to 'default' to 72deg F when it's clearly in the 90's. It's taken several minutes (over 10) for it to finally get to a more accurate reading. It does this very sporadically.

the drive home is about 45 min. so thats not it from the previous reply from excursionator i take it that the sensor is behind the bumper which side and is the sensor what needs to be replaced or is it the actual gauge also is it just a plug and go type sensor or is it like a thermocouple with a long wire that has to be routed up into the cab thanks for the replys

It should be located behind the front grill on the lower driver side corner and is accessible through the wheel well. That's how it is on my 04 anyway.

Mine said it was 138 degrees F the other day when it was about 40 degrees outside. I attributed it to having a plow installed and the radiator airflow must have been blocked by the plow blade.
