I just bought a 1999 F150 4x4 extended cab, and the previous owner solved the corroding steps problem by taking them off and throwing them away. I'd like to replace them with *something*, so I searched the forum and found a number of people saying the Ford OEM ones were just fine. But when I called the parts dept at my local dealer, I was told that there were no OEM ones, and that they must have been aftermarket.
Is there really a Ford OEM version? Can someone provide a part #?
Alternatively, a recommendation for an aftermarket version would be helpful. I'm not building a show truck, and would prefer not to break the bank (after all, I just paid for the truck<g>). Would something like this:
Mine say ford on the plastic step? But I just took mine off about two weeks ago, and they were definatley rusted to hell on the inside... used air wrench to get them off, then I tried to just use a hand wrench to put them back on... the threads were so bad I broke a socket driver and bent a cheap wrench putting them back on.
