I posted this in the SD/HD section first and only got one reply, so I will try here also. My truck has the shakes and I'm just about out of ideas. it starts about 60 and gradually gets worse. It's real bad over 70. I normally cruise 70 on the interstate to and from work. I'm going home for T-day and need it fixed quick.
heres what I know:
it's not the tires/wheels (both brand new) balanced right and swapped with stock wheels, one at a time.
it's not the driveshaft, u-joints are tight.
it's not the wheel bearings
it doesn't shake with the brakes
pass. side ball joints/ tie rods are tight
driver side ball joint has a tiny tiny bit of play
it shakes through the steering wheel, so I'm assuming its the front end
I've replaced ball joints on my Lightning before. How bad are they on a 250 compared? Would the shocks have anything to do with it? They look like the factory old stock shocks. It's a 2wd, do the radius arm bushing wear/melt on these trucks like they do on the Gen 1 Lightning?
Thanks for the help.

Is your steering tight? If you jack the front of the truck up and push/pull on the front/back of the tire (like you were making a turn) is there a lot of slop? Then steering linkage could be to blame. I changed out my sway bar end links ($15 ea at O'Reiley Auto Parts) and that helped my vibration a little bit. Are you 100% sure that your U-Joints aren't bad? My buddy has an '01 Duracrap that was having that problem. I went under the truck and couldn't get the U-Joints to move one bit, but the bad vibration took out the transmission. One of the U-Joints was worn down about half way because it didn't have any needles left. Felt perfect. Good luck. I know that vibrations can make you pull your hair out.
