Question What should i do?

I have a pretty nice (straight body no rust) 87 F250 4x4 No motor no trans or t-case. (gave/sold to my nephew) How hard is it to swap in the 7.3 td motors in? any thing i should look for / avoid? guess ill try and find a wrecked truck so i can get everything. i also have a 302 that runs and a tranny and trans case to match that i could throw in it but would it be worth while? i have a 351 layin down at the garage that i could clean up too. will the trans from the 302 bolt to the 351? sorry if i sound dumb but im used to working on chevys any info would be much appreciated

Thumbs up

it is possible as long as you have everything from the donor vehicle, including complete drivedrain(minus rearend), wiring harnesses, engine mounts and so on. i think the only thing you would have to modify would be the engine mounts but thats just simple cutting and welding of the mounts.

The tranny for the 302 will fit the 351 as long as it is a 351 Windsor.

Im guessing it was a gasser to begin with? If so, then yeah you'd pretty much have to have the donor vehicle otherwise you would nickle and dime yourself to death on the small parts.

If you want to put a PSD in a former gasser, I think you'll want the axles also because the diesel rigs usually have beefier axles to compensate for the torque of the diesel. You'd also need all the wiring and control boxes, etc.

The deisels dont have stronger axles, but usually stiffer front springs to compensate for the heavier engine.
