coolent temp.

Just wondering how hot will the eng. get before the idiot light comes on? when I pull my fifthwheel in the hills my truck runs hot I will let it go up to 225 before I pull over and let it cool back down, but the idiot light never comes on. it does come on at start up so I know the light works.

Where is your sending unit located?
Since you gave a temp number I assume you have an aftermarket guage.

I have mine in the head where the idiot light switch was.
235 is easy to see when working it hard.

Idiot light comes on at 244*F......

Diesel engine coolant temperature at the top of the radiator where hose attaches after high rpm or under load condition for 20 minutes should be (195-237*F) 91-114*C nice time to have a temperature reading point and shoot tool.

Thanks for that PLC7.3. Is there a way to test that sensor or should I just change it out for piece of mind.
