Alright you guys think I need batteries and an alternator or just batteries.
Hard to start my truck like it needed batteries I know it needed Glow plugs to. So I replaced one bank of glow plugs before it got dark, while replacing them put my batteries on a charger. started truck up with lights on and after about one minute you could see the lights brighten up maybe after the GPR cut off. What do you guys think batteries read 14 running and 12 after I charged them.
Does it crank slow? My truck was cranking slow and I happened to notice the battery terminals were kind of loose. I took them off and cleaned up the terminals and cables and retightened and she cranks like new again. Might look into that.
Well finished the rest of the glow plugs today and started her up. Now when I start it up and test the batteries on reads 14 and the other reads 12. SO I'm guessing time for 2 new batteries. This is becoming a every year thing with this truck it seems.
Don't forget that when the truck is running, you are now getting voltage from the alternator, which puts out about 14v for charging. To test better, with the truck off, check each battery seperately. disconnect first one then the other. If you have something like a 12v spotlight that you can plug into the lighter, then turn that on with only one battery connected. Check your volt meter right when you connect or turn on the light, then again about 5 minutes later. If you see a significant drop in the voltage and it keeps going down, replace the battery. do this with each one.
