Any way to test wires on gear lever for the O/D?

I just got a fluke meter and is there some special way for me to test the wires? Is it even possible? I traced it to where it plugs in under the top cover on the column and it looked fine but doesnt mean it isnt pinched. Oh, also, is there an easy way to pop out the ignition switch so i can pull the top cover off the column all the way? Thanks for any help. I have a 93 F250 351 E4OD 4x4

On the bottom of the lower cover near the screw hole, there's a hole
that accesses a pin releasing the sw. Disconnect battery - term.,turn
sw. to on position, poke a 1/8" drill bit into access hole, depress pin,
and pull sw. out. This should allow removal of top shroud so you can gain access to sw. gear etc. Hope this helps!! Good luck, Cal
