I'm in the middle of buying an 82 F-350 which is in basically excellent condition.
But for some reason it has a spot of rust, about 1.5" across, in the same place on each pillar, just below the top of the windscreen.
Both spots look as if they began from the outside (no holes) - but the fact that they are both identical & in the same spot, makes me wonder if this is a problem area.
If so, does anyone know the cause, & how much of a problem could be lurking
underneath?
I'm kind of curious about this, too. Mine's an 82 F250, 127K, 400/4spd, built in Cally, spent most of its life in Colorado, and has been in PA for the last 5 years. I have rust just as you describe in the same place on the passenger A pillar, but only a small spot on the driver's side. I'll have to pull the windshield to do this right (someday!) but as of now it's just an ugly, rough scab with no perforation. There's got to be more than the two of us with this issue...
