Hey ya'll, my truck has the shakes and I'm just about out of ideas. it starts about 60 and gradually gets worse. It's real bad over 70. I normally cruise 70 on the interstate to and from work. I'm going home for T-day and need it fixed quick.
heres what I know:
it's not the tires/wheels (both brand new) balanced right and swapped with stock one at a time.
it's not the driveshaft
it's not the wheel bearings
it doesn't shake with the brakes
pass. side ball joints/ tie rods are tight
driver side ball joint has a tiny tiny bit of play
I've replaced ball joints on my Lightning. How bad are they on a 250? would the shocks have anything to do with it? They look like factory.
Thanks for the help.
Did it start when you put on the new tires/wheels. Do you have a lift.
If it started when you put on the new tires/wheels, I would look at those first. Find a tire dealer locally that has a force balancer (www.hunter.com) and have the new wheels balanced and checked that there is not a problem with the rims or wheels.
I just put on a new set of aluminum wheels and BFG AT-KO and the tire dealer balanced them twice and I still got vibrations at 60-75 like your getting. I went and had them balanced with a force balancer and my shakes are gone.
