Hey guyz i have been learning about diesels from this site for awhile now and i give great thanx to the people of this site you have helped out many including myself alot and i would appreciate some expertise my way i have run into a problem that i can't seem to resolve please help. I was driving my 2000 F-250 7.3L when the gauges started going crazy all of them. They were bouncing all over the place and the truck started lunging like you were taking your foot on and off the gas then it straitened out. Went to start it the next day and had to turn it over three seperate times to get it to fire ran fine after that. Next day same thing just wondering if anyone has had similar issuses or have heard/known about them??
..welcome to FTE did the SES light come on?? i would go to a dealer and get a new CPS for $25 give or take and try that first..sounds like its ready to give up on you..if it cures the problem.. go get another one and keep it in the glove box for a spare..here is a link on how to replace it..use the same part# only change the A at the end to a B to get the cheaper and better CPS... the CPS should gray in color https://www.ford-trucks.com/article/...ke_Diesel.html

then the next step I would look for a short in the wiring..where does your gauges hook into?? Did it set off the SES??? the more questions answered the better informed we are..
Guages, acting up? Check your alternator. Could be causing some electrical problems becuase it is not charging your batts anymore. Also, check your batts. Just beware, My alternator completely failed without setting off that red battery light on the dash. WHen you check your batts, diconnect and test individualy. You will get an accurate reading this way.

Battery cables are a little dirty will clean and check then
When the truck is runnin voltage is up to where it should be 14.7 volts
just checked the voltage it has been sitting all day and it is at 12.46 both batterys
did a load test on them individually and they tested okay wonder if there is a draw on them. Can one go bad and not notice with a load tester
You had the same problem empiretc how come the gauges go all crazy like that??
Thanx for all the help
