Everytime I sit down and start messing with Photoshop it seems as alot of the stuff is counter-intuative. Once I get things kind of figured out then its along time before I play with it again and I've forgotten everything

I'll do some reading up at those sites, thanks

again very cool, I LOVE symetry.
I have pics of painted dash in gallery. The dash is finished. I will load 1 to gallery as soon as I shoot a pic of the clock side. There is a pic of the gauge cluster that is plug and play- no stooping. All wired in kitchen and then pluggged in to dash in 2 seconds flat.

Hey Jon, that sounds COOL I just loved what you did to it!! I'm still in the planning stages of mine, but fortunately I had an extra cab cut that I used for mock up. It was a junk cowl piece from a 56, and I used it for the cut and fit of the 56 car dash, and I also used it to mock up my windshield wiper set up. It worked great, and I didn't have to worry about scratching up my baby!

Yeah, Jon, I like that dash setup alot!! I'm considering doin that to my 56 panel?? As for the car dash setup, Tacson sent me a printout of a past issue of CCT which had it in there. Only they welded theirs in to the truck. It looks awesome and very at home in there.

I know all about getting side tracked. Every night I have very high expectations of getting alot done, and before I get started good, it's time to come in.

Later man

Bobby,

Sorry, meant to respond earlier but got sidetracked....

I was originally VERY impressed with the way you adapted the modern guage set to your stock bezel. It was so well done and so stealth - who couldn't help but be impressed with the work and the result.

However - I am a BIG-TIME fan of customs and Art Deco type styling as well and given that, I wholeheartedly want to try to push you into seeing the adaption of the 58 Poncho guage set through. I really think it would look sharp.

Git 'er done!

Bobby,
That would not be a real difficult metalworking project if you take your time welding it in. The roll at the top and bottom of the dash will help keep it straight, just be sure to butt weld it in, don't lap it so you can bump out any shrinkage you might get along the seam. Round the corners of the insert with a good size radius, a radius means a shorter weld and less heat concentration thus less shrinkage in the corners. I'm assuming the insert you cut is at least 18ga? 16 ga would be even better and more likely to stay flatter.

That 58 Ponch Grille is AWESOMEbut why did you wanna back mount it???? How far would it stick out frontmounted???....I just had to slice off my whole front ...needed to convert to RHD in Australia anyway.....I WAS always gonna go with a nice darkwood full length panel with a nice contoured hole with smoked perspex allowing my 89 Aussie Ford LTD full digital cluster to "ghost illuminate" when you hit the ignition. sorry....no pix with me here in Tokyo

I've been over that idea for quite a while now, but THAT is the first MUCH,MUCH cooler idea I've seen to replace it...could even sub in just the needle assembly from a late model electronic speedo to suit!

NB- you get pinged for 3 km/h over the limit by 1000s of automated cameras in Australia, so YES....speedo accuracy and tuneability is VERY important to me

3km/hr (less than 2 mph) over the speed limit....thats just insane. Do you use cruise control in town too? I have a hard time staying within 10km/hr in the city....how do you watch the road in front of you when you are constantly watching the speedo?

oh,sorry......and ANY road that passes a school drops to 40 KM/H at CHANGING TIMES

and we have RED LIGHT cameras too....many of those include a speed camera to snap you if you speed up for an orange light.

3km/h over $180 and loss of 1 demerit point
10km/h over $240 and loss of 3 demerit points
12 demerit points maximum per any 3 year period
20km/h over $340 and INSTANT loss of license

Its not actually that cool when your mum loses her licence

but they sent me a pic of my car going 127km/h in a 60km/h zone (at 4am, uphill, with brake lights on and smoke pouring from all 4 tyres....saw em, but too late) when I was 19 years old

I been in Tokyo for 2 years now, so I might be slightly outta touch on fine amounts?

But you immeadeately ask the sensible question.....a whole generation growing up looking down while driving .....but state revenue is up

Thumbs up

Very COOL Jon. I like it!! But if you would have painted it turqouise I would have liked it better??

(I'm sort of kidding) Unless you want to make me one? No seriously, I'm goin to use a 56 Car dash, and I want to use some of them gauges from the aroura company? I like to be able to make my own I mean, I've made everything else on the truck so why stop now?

Later man
