I've got some 900 mhz wireless headphones, and I like to listen to audiobooks while I'm doing one of the many boring jobs available to me. I also like to listen to them on long trips.
Does anyone else listen to them? I find that they keep my mind much more occupied than listening to music. If I'm doing a job that requires any significant amount of thought, of course, I either go to music or nothing.
So, how bout it -- anybody? And if you do, who do you like? (be interested in favorite authors for 'regular' readers also. ) I like spy/detective/mystery/military. W.E.B. Griffin, Clive Cussler, Dale Brown, Robert Parker, Michael Connely, and so on. Trouble is, I can listen/read, faster than they can write. (lazy buzzards )
i like the concept of audio books. I ave actually listen to a few books spread out over 5 or 6 cassettes. I tried it in the car and it works pretty good if you're on a long drive on the interstate.
I also like them on long drives. I used to have a type of cubicle job that because of dissagreement over what type of radio station to play, allowed the use of headphones. It actually helped you concentrate on your work. We used to take turns going to the library and checking them out.
I love them! Even though I only have a 12 minute commute, that gives me time to "read" books that I otherwise I wouldn't have time for, between working on my house and spending time with my kids. I've been going through the Tom Clancy and John Grisham at the library. Not sure what I'll get into after that.
No i dont. I remember when i was young my family and i would drive up to jersey to visit my grandparents. We listened to the hobbit (this is before lord of the rings movie was made) and a few others but i hardly remember it.
Do you listen to a book all the way through if you have the time? Or does it get boring? I was thinking about getting one for the next time i fly to europe. Nothing like a cramped 747 on a 7-9hr flight.
