how much difference will 69 windsor heads make over my mild ported e7s on my 306? ive heard alot due to valves and intake runner volume. i got a set and dont know if i should install them because im scared it would make a difference. my 306 runs great now but doesnt have the top end i need. it flatens out at 5000, even on spray. i know the e7s just cant keep up, will the 351s?
The windsor family heads didn't change a whole lot over the years, smaller combustion chambers and slightly larger valves in the early years, but as you see it doesn't amount to much in terms of flow. The best flow numbers I have seen for Ford heads are from a set of Thumper Performance E7's which are close to the World Products Windsor SR.
yes, the heads are for the gt. its currently on spray but i want more top end. the e7s pull really hard but fall around 5000. i think its the compression (9.75-10-1) is to much for these heads. sure id love to see your porting pics hemieater. the e7s are ported on the exhaust side but the valves are still small.
they look beautiful! i think ill just spend time on the 351 heads since the valves are already bigger and they are off the car. then when im ready ill swap them over and see what happens.
have the heads magnafluexed
have the stud bosses machined for guide plates
have the studs bosses drilled and tapped for 7/16 studs
have hardened exhaust seats installed 1.60
have them use the one piece tool that cuts the seats and opens the bowls at the same time 1.94 and 1.60 3 angle valve job....works great.
have the seal bosses machined for the high performance seals
the one piece tool is the ticket...not sure what it's called but when you get the heads back all you have to do is blend the bolws....like this...
notice the intake bowl......all I had to do was blend in the guide boss....
mind if a pop off a couple of questions nearly related. gonna rebuild my 89 351 this spring. i am gonna use a performer intake and cam and i need to get my compression up over 10 to 1 for e85. please lets not debate my choice in fuel it is readily available here and a buck cheaper plus. it appears the combustion chambers in my engine are like 69.cc's, and i havent been able to find a piston that can work with that chamber and get me where i need. I was gonna buy reman heads from aerohead/ indy cylinder head( a big name in mopar circles) they just started windsor heads and all new parts stainless 1.94's and 1.60's with a 3 angle valve job can be had for $400.00. i dont believe i could have my heads done for less. it is just a hopped up work truck in need of some extra grunt. can anybody steer me to a good iron head with a smaller combustion chamber or a piston that can get me over 10-1. thanks guys. Dan
