Question Steering Column Flange

I used a column out of a 70 model truck with P/S and column shift in my 66 when I added P/S. Iam not sure that the column was the original in the 70 model truck, it may have been a transplant. It has the hazard switch built into the turn signal switch. I need to know when they started putting the hazard switch in the column and how many years were they the same from the point that they started putting the hazard switch in the column? The switch did not have any numbers on it and the tag that usually has the part number on it is gone. What I really need is the part # for the flange and the possible year models to look for. This probably a good question for Number Dummy. However any help with this will be appreciated.
Thanks

Bill T.

We have a 69 and the Hazard switch is in the Glove box. My 74 had it on the column That should narrow the field a little.

Thanks for the info. However that is not the part I am talking about. It is the flange at the top of the column the piece that the turn signal switch mounts to. That also holds the upper bearing.

Thanks again

You have a 1973/77 (?) column. There are two types of upper flanges used 1965/72. One for A/T (C5DZ-3511-B) & one for M/T C5DZ-3511-A).

In 1973, things become complicated, because there are two types used in early 1973 (before serial #S40,001, and two types used on late 1973's (after #S40,001) thru 1977. The 78/79 columns are different from 73/77, and the NSS on 78/79 is mounted on the transmission.

Look at the flange you now have, there will be a Ford ID number on it somewhere. The prefix of that ID code will be similar to 1973 early: D3TA, or 1973 late: D3 or D4TA. I need that ID prefix to figure out what column you have.

Well I would gladly give you those casting or stamp numbers, but! Some Bone Head has lost or misplaced or disposed of the wrong one and painted the wrong one as well. I have no idea who that guy is I figure that 73 is probably right and it is automatic column shift, it is not 78 or 79. So any possible part numbers or possible years span with the hazard switch is part of the T/S switch would be helpful. After that it will just have to be my best guess and hope I get lucky. Unless someone has a better idea

Thanks

D3TZ-3511-B .. Flange ~ 1973 before serial number: S40,001

D3TZ-3511-D .. Flange ~ 1973/77 after serial number: S40,001

Do you have the upper sleeve for the steering column bearing?

The early sleeve before S40,001 is plastic (B1AZ-3518-A), the later sleeve after S40,001 is hard rubber (D1AZ-3518-A).
