lug nuts

why are some 99 and newer sds 14mm 2.00lugs and some 14mm 1.5lugs?

'98 - '02 used 14mm x 2.00 lug nuts.

'03 - present uses 14mm x 1.50 lug nuts.

Yep.

the 1.5 gives them more clamping force than the 2.0

No.....but for a while Ford had the torque spec listed too low with the 2.0s, sent out all sort of bulletins to owners with a sticker to up the torque to 150-165.
