Does anyone have a pic of a c-6 (driver's side view) that came out of a 4wd truck? I need to see a clear view of the kickdown linkage. All of my tucks except my EB Bronco have a manual transmission. I would like to double check how the arm that goes into the tranny sits, as I replaced it. It was not hooked up when I got it, and come to find out it was broke inside. I'm looking for something to use as a reference. I searched for some pics, but found nothing clear enough to help. Thanks.
A bump-since now I am wanting to go out and fix this. How is the "C" shaped piece supposed to sit in relation to the tranny? Does it work by rotating the shaft clockwise or counterclockwise?
The actuation of the kickdown is counter-clockwise. If the lever is curved in sort of a c shape it goes on with the curve up and the end to the front. That lever is for a push action rod. The cable (pull) type is usually straight and sticks up at about 1 or 2 o-clock. I have seen a few models with a bell crank on the cable and the lever sticks down. You can operate a C6 without any kickdown with no problems (no full throttle kickdown). At full throttle the lever should be just at full rotation but not tight up against the stop.
Thank you to both of the replies. I think with the two of them I can get this back to functional. If the linkage is not hooked up, should I be able to "feel" anything by moving the "C" shaped piece (rotating the shaft counter clockwise), meaning with the truck in park and not running?
