Has anyone had problems with their blinkers and windshield washers not always working. I have a 97 4x4. Dealer said they don't think it is the switch because it doesn't always do it. But I'm thinking of trying it anyhow.
My washer switch has a mind of its own, sometimes when im driving on the highway the washer will automatically start washing the windsheild. lol I also have to get this problem fixed.( )
Have a '97 F150 4X4 and a little more than 2 years ago had intermittent washer problems, sometimes was fine, sometimes not. Was fixed by them changing the switch.

I had trouble with my headlights. They started working intermittently and eventually not at all. It was a bad turn signal/washer/hazard unit in the steering column. I've made several posts on here about it today and am now looking for information on changing the flasher unit which controls the turn and emergency flashers. Mine has apparently gone out. I have a '98 4x4 and I think the '97 is similar. Based on your information, I would suggest replacing the switch. Get it anywhere but at the dealer if you can...new they'll get you for about $100. Find one at a salvage yard or check other pricing (I think autozone.com) offers one online for about $60. Good luck!
its almost like the other question "does anyone else have a power steering leak"
I've replaced quite a few on our buses/vans. and lucky for us we can get the part from ford even if under warranty and replace it ourselfs eliminating down time for a day or two.
we will play with the switch sometimes to get it to work.
the part is even an in stock item at ford. Thats really bad.
I also had a similar problem in my 99 F-150. One night while driving in the rain with the washers going, every time I would signal for a left turn the washer fluid would start. It did this about eight times in a row on that short trip and never again since(about a month). Asked the Ford dealer and they said it could be a bad switch and would replace it if the problem happened again.
