Cracks in Wheels

Just heard on our local news in Phoenix that our Highway Patrol has taken all their 2003 and newer Expeditions off the road because of cracks in the rims. The wheels have been sent in for analysis and they said Ford is cooperating fully but as of yet no one knows the reason for the cracks.

Did they say if they were steel or aluminum? I know a lot of Cop crown vics were recalled because of the wheels...
