HPOP ??'s

Does the oil in the HPOP need to be changed at times!! And how often shoud you check the level in it? I got 93,000 mi. on my 2001 F250 and never checked or changed the oil in the HPOP.. Any advice would be helpfull.. Thank's

Nope. The only time you'd have to check and add any oil is when the ball valve that prevents it from draining back starts to go. The HPOP is fed fresh oil when the engine is running.

Thanks, My truck runs rough, almost like a miss between 1000 and 1500 rpm's holding the throttle steady, no codes. Just wondering If that had something to do with it. Other wise it's fine.

Nope, how it works is that oil is fed from the main pump into a pressurized reservoir to the pump, it goes through hoses into the cylinder heads (rails), then once the injectors use the oil they discharge the oil into the open area under the valve covers. Then the oil returns to the sump.

I had a problem with my HPOP a few weeks ago. It lost its prime and the truck wouldn't start. Take out the plug on top (allen key) and dip down in the hole. It should be 3/4" from the top. As it gets low, it can run the truck rough.

If it's not that, try a HPX line from rail to rail. It smoothed out my idle and low rpm's.
