Hi.
I have a 2000 Ford X with ~115k miles. When I make a right turn, the rear of the car makes a pulsing/grinding noise. Its ONLY on right turns though. It seems to pulse with the rotation of the wheel. Also, when the car has been running for 30-45 minutes, it will begin to slip from stop lights and up hills. Its not the motor thats cutting out, it's something slipping. I'm about to take a 600 mile trip to Denver and I'm almost sure I won't make it without it dying. What could this problem be?
I'm 99% sure I don't have the LSD. (Making a left onto a busy street in the rain in a PITA.)
Well do a burn outin the rain in two drive. If only one wheel spins, it is non limited slip. If two spin then it is limited slip. Does it feel like ur rear axle is shifting? If it feels like that then u have the same problem that i have, its just my truck does it when i make right and left turns.
Like I said, its not an LSD. It does not feel like its shifting. Its with each rotation of the wheel. So it does it 4 or 5 times per turn. After getting fuel today, it was really bad. Going up a hill, it went Clunk, cluck, clunk 4 or 5 times.

This could be a sign of carrier bearing going bad in the differential. I have had to replace them in my Ex. and my 78 crewcab. The crew cab made the clunking sound intermitantly and the Ex made rumbling or louder noises as the load shifted in turns.
Also check all u-joints. Those usually clunk on and off the power. U joints are inexpensive compared to differential work. Good luck...just my experiences. JOHN
First thing I would do is remove the wheels and see if anything looks untoward or like it has been rubbing.
I would also see if you can list to it when someone else is driving VERY slowly.
My next guesses are along the lines of above, U-joints in the rear drive line (normally you can tell by feeling the shaft when parked) or the rear axle bearings (Have you tried changing the fluid and seeing what it looks like?)
