Are you talking about the lumbar adjuster? I think it's just a press fit on there, and should come off with a little gentle persuasion. Did you look all around where it fits over the shaft for some kind of a set screw?
If your talking about the lumbar ****, then unscrew it to release the tension off the lumbar support and it will pop off. Place your fingers or something on each side of the **** and it will come off. It just snaps back on.
You should be able to pop the **** off, then remove the 2 screws holding the cable in place. The plastic part should slide back out of the frame. Are you replacing the foam padding or the entire seat? Do you know how to remove the seat covers, etc? I'll be installing heated seats soon and have a link that shows some of the steps in disassembling the seats. If your interested let me know and I'll find it for you.
My driver side seat cover is torn and nasty after 186000 miles. Does anyone know what Ford wants from the covers and foam? I have gray cloth buckets.
Be sitting down when you call for a price on the seat cover!!! I checked on the price of a seat cover for an old ranger p/u I had and almost fell over when they told me the price. Go to an auto upholstery shop and they can match factory cloth, vinyl and leather exactly at about 1/3 the price.
