Alt dash light flashing

Alt dash light flashing

Finally got my charging problem fixed, thought it was two weeks ago but truck died again. So I checked the voltage with my tester and while the truck was running it would only read 12.3 volts, so I replaced the regulator again with another (#3), plugged everything back together and retested 14.2 volts finally a charge from the alt. but when I went to shut of the ignition I noticed the alt. light on the dash flashing. But the realy weird part was when I put the headlights on the light went out. Anyone have any ideas.

typically it is a bad diode in the alternator!

flashing or flickering ?

conditions at time of charging test ?

Idle or 1000 rpm ?

Don't do it at idle.

Don't do it at idle.

Light was flashing, at idle as well as when driving. I was just out for a ride in it and it did not do it once this trip. Hopefully it has curred itself.

Could be a loose connection on the alternator.
