Stored trouble codes

I read that the computor will store codes regarding engine problems or issues. Can these be read at places other than the dealer? I went to Zone and had a scan and no codes came up.

The reason behind the scan is I am having stiction issues. Will stiction issues cause a code? If so will it tell me what injector or injectors?

Truck is an 03 with 212,000 miles. I use Rotella synthetic, don't have a tuner, have been running with the EGR unplugged for about 112,000 miles now and still have the original injectors and turbo on the motor.

Sometimes the injectors will show you codes for stiction, sometimes not. I've had two injectors fail and show contribution codes both times, both cylinder specific. I have two different tuners, a Predator and an SCT. The Predator is too outdated to use for tuning, but has some great realtime diagnostics. The SCT is good for tuning but isn't worth a hoot for data logging without a laptop to go with it. Folks here have reported having their vehicles scanned at Autozone with success.
