Ok at one point i suddenly developed a driveline vibration. I noticed it driving back from school four hour drive couple days later went looking loose driveshaft bolts, way loose, tightened and got shaft in place tight again no more vibration. Fixed it i was happy as can be.
Well a week ago i got another vibration. It comes in about 30mph at first mostly in steering wheel big vibration steering wheel up and down, dissappears over 30mph. Then at 50mph comes back still low frequency vibration, but more in the floor pans and seats, dissappears by 53-55mph. At 60 feels like im riding on rumble strips on the highway, 75 feels like goin faster over rumble strips and at 80 it starts to diminish, i think the frequency gets so high i cant feel it. Above 50 any vibrations are felt in floor pans and seat versus at 30 when its in steering wheel.
On another note my tranny a while back lost fluid started to upshift hard i refilled fixed it. Later let Jiffy Lube do fluid n filter in it, pan came loose other day (every bolt, i have words for them) i tightened it refilled, still shifts hard, i don't know if that would cause it, i don't think it is i rode in neutral and it was still there.
Ball joints up front are good, it can't be carrier bearing because it wasnt there after i put lift on until now. i didn't see any missing weights i raised up truck e-brake doesn't hold it back at all. It does feel like something rubs up front right baout where tranny is. I don't know anymore. Any help would be great. Thanks guys sorry about the long post.
Did you have any work done on it just before it happened? Also have you rotated your tires or had them ballaced recently? Is your tranny mount, and motor mounts in good shape? Check engine light ever come on? Might take it too a drive line shop and have them check it out. Most tranny shops can hook up the scanner and drive it to see why its shifting hard.
no real work was done on it. the tires could be out of balance just seems like the way it vibrates is a drive line issue. i will rotate the tires and see what happens the vibration came around after the truck sat for about a week. the mounts are good i will check them again closer just to be sure. i'm thinking i might need to try and get the shaft balanced with the tires. the tranny did this once or twice before it lost fluid i fixed it by adding fluid and the other time it also required a filter change. i fixed the leak then had the filter and fluid changed at jiffy lube with my oil (company paid for it to go) but jiffy lube didnt tighten pan bolts enough so it leakd at the pan gasket. i hope all i need is a filter and fluid change to fix it, what it is is durring any upshift the truck lurches forward like theres a clutch not releasing, i think its not getting fluid to it so i will try fluid filter then next step is tranny shop.
thanks for the help anything else i could look for past tires and shaft, the fact that it drove fine then sat then got a vibration makes me think it wast tires, except maybe a flat spot but then again the on and off vibration issue.
Maybe from when your U-Joint was loose it might have damaged the cups or needle bearings innside it. If it didnt make it before the lift, and it didnt make it after the lift. Maybe the U-Joints finally wore out, my bros jeep used to kill U-Joints after a month or so. Maybe a few weeks depending on how much he drove. Id change the U-Joints. Even if they look good they might not be.
