Excessive steering play
I am new to this forum and I am not exacly sure I am on the right string. Anyway I own a 2002 F350 Dually super cab with a 7.3 power stroke with just over 108 thou on the clock. at present I have excessive steering play and I am looking for Ideas as to what the problem could be, I have been told that it could be the steering damper, but bearing in mind that I live in the U.K. and any garage rubs his hands together with pure glea at the prospects of an American import being the reason to give me a financial enema. On inspection I have seen many ball joints on various track rod arms ( I am sorry I dont know what they are called in the U.S. ) I was wondering if anyone would know which were more prone to wear than others. Thanks in anticipation of a reply.

watching for the ends to move before moving what they are connected to say a
couple of millimeters then the part moves. Also check the steering wheel to gear box
for any play. What size tires and what pressure are you running? Try running a bit lower pressure or different pressure front to rear, Say 30 psi front 35 rear or what
ever you use over there.
