gear questions
ok i got a 94 f 150 4x4 with 3.55 gears in it now. i want to go to a 4.10 gear, i was told i need to swap out the carrier to go to 4.10s on the dana 44 i was wondering if this is true and if its the same story on the 8.8?
secondly i was wondering if its just easiser to find some diffs with 4.10s already and just swap the entire thing. what trucks are more common to find 4 10s in?

yep you need a 3.92 and up carrier for the 44 front, you might be able to find a F-250 (probably easier than a 150) with a 44 front and 4.09s, the 8.8 doesnt need a carrier change just a gear change.

Finding diffs would be easier and prolly cheaper too. I've seen XLT Broncos with AOD trans and 4.10s in the pull and pay junk yard. You may be able to score a a pair of Limited Slip diffs. Look for LS (on the 44) or L (on the 8.8) on the ID tags. Don't be supprised if you find 4.10 in the front and 4.11 in the rear, that's the way it is...
