Yes, but the improved filtration takes out particulates, not dissolved materials, which is what the UOA was testing for.
I like my OilGuard system and will keep it. If I had to do a bypass over again, I would go with the FS2500 system. I passed on the Amsoil system due to reports about potentially reduced main oil flow through the motor due to pressure drops coming frmo the 10% bypass flow. These reports were verified by Amsoil's Technical Support personnel, and the issue seems to be dependant on how far away from teh motor the bypass elements are mounted (closer is better).
The OilGuard unit bypasses only 5% of the total flow, which works fine for me since I do a lot of extended 1.5-2hr drives every month. I'm not sure what the bypass rate is for the FS system, but I have come to believe that it is the premium system available and would recommend it ahead of the OilGuard.
As for the Amsoil synthetic, I would go with either the Schaeffer or Rotella-T oils. I've had excellent results from Amsoil syns on my gassers, but not as happy on the diesel side of things.
Thanks man. I have been leaning towards the fs2500 for a bit now. Th only thing that I don't care for about the kit, or any of them for that matter is for the powerstroke kit, you have to mount the filter to the cross member or the frame...as close as possible. On the fs2500 kit for the cummins engine, you get to mount it in the engine bay...so not fair! And as far as oil. The only synthetics that I have used is Amsoil, and Royal Purple. Have used amsoil longer, but have had good use outta both, in all of my diesels. Have heard good things about other brands, but guess it's what I've always used, so I trust it. However the more I read about the fuel injection system on the PSD, I;m a little concerned. My last diesel was a Duramax, and it did great with the amsoil. Have you heard anything about Royal purple, or used it yourself with the 6.0 PSD? Either oil is going to be getting double filtered with a bypass unit, just curious.
