Well look at my truck it may really weight about 9200lbs and i wouldn't own anyother truck, but Ford and would go back to F-150 love my SD. I like that weight ticket.Ford said built it heavier to last long and to take more hammer form it's owner and keep on trucking on down the road.

Thanks for saving me from making a huge mistake, and so he got all pissed! Anyway,I cant belive how slow that thing was, besides you cant do anything to it without voiding the warranty. Think I will keep the last good Superduty Ford made and keep killing the 6.bore's in the drags, and if you were wondering my 6.0 has a Hypertech PTM and a straight pipe.

You told the saleman you where going to buy the ugly truck !
It wont go over 85 mph either .I dont know what I was thinking when I ordered and got mine.I left GMC for this.

OK no bull I really like mine.no complaints at all.

Imo 08 gmc is so ugly when you drive down the street even the sewers back up.

Back your comments up? My 450 runs 0-60 in 10.34 Seconds pretty good for a 9,000# truck. If I want to drag race I take my Firehawk 0-60 4.9 seconds. half the time and about 1/3 the weight. The 6.4 is much quieter and more refined than the 6.0 that is one reason it feels slower. Noise factor accelerating makes it feel different. A standard cab 250 weights about 5700#, I would think both the these same weight trucks 6.0 and 6.4 stock would run about 8.5 to 9 seconds 0-60. All I know when I pull 17k up steep hills at 60-65 mph and it downshifts you can really feel the torque as it accelerates. This is what Ford built this truck for.

I see the hp vs. weight argument very clearly!! I know these Fords do weigh more, but Ford could have upped the ante and put the 6.4 at 400hp and 680-700 on the torque to make them comparible to the Cummins & Dmax as far as performance is concerned. Actually the Cummins truck is almost the same weight as the Ford trucks in the 2500 and 3500 class which is pretty impressive that it's right with the lighter Dmax. Yeah do the Fords tow ok? Of course, but with their performance being crippled slightly by their extra weight they could definitely make up for that with more power no question! FOrd show me the power!!

Yes, raise the power, then bitch even MORE about the mileage when it drops another 2mpg.

Its very simple- heavier truck + more power = less economy. People need to make up their mind what they want- to expect all of the above is ignorant and ill-informed.

Matt,

Then why does increasing the hp on a diesel truck raise the mpg's? I see your point but 1000's of people buy those SCT's and Superchips etc. to improve on fuel economy. Are the programmers decreasing fueling to improve MPG's or increasing fuel and power for economy?? Now you really got me confused???? I thought from talking to you and hundreds of others that increasing power would improve mpg's as long as you keep your foot out of it.............What gives??? Maybe I won't get a programmer after all........

Hvy truck or not, I can watch the mpg's click off when regen is going....less economy there,,,aint got nothing to do with weights.

last I knew, we bought these heavy duty trucks to work with. My truck has almost 300,000 miles on it now and the only real work that has been done to it is a clutch ONE TIME at 250,000 miles, oh yeah, I changed the water pump once.... I haul a 28' tri-axel GN trailer almost every day with loads that have (usually do) exceed Michigan legal maximum. My truck still looks good (very good) and I often get compliments on how nice it looks, then I tell them the amount of miles on it. I love the expressions that I get.

Show me a Dodge or especially a Chevy that do the same.

Notice that I never said anything about speed or blowing off doors ? It will, but that is not why I own it. I bought a heavy duty reliable truck to work it, not race it. That is what a stang is for.

By the way, did you ever look where a Dodge heavy duty is built ? Every one I have ever seen was made in Mexico, which , by the way, is not part of the USA.
