How many people here have pets that are doing something incredible/cute/funny and a CAMERA is no where near you at the time and you know as soon as you move ...they will stop what they were doing ?
Examples:
1) Last night Gizmo fell asleep on the floor with his head laying in the open area of one of my fleece slippers.
2) All three dogs laying on the bed asleep.
3) Bayley Chasing his tail or laying flat out with all fours up in the air.
4) Who needs cat ?......Harley apparently is a Mouser ..he has killed 3 of them so far.. ......two slaps with his paw and the mouse is dead....then he protects his kill from the other 2 dogs until Dad shows up for its disposal.
Now.....I can't even twitch without the dogs reacting and moving.
I'm thinking of running a Camcorder on tripod somewhere as they are so entertaining.
we used to have a dog (Rascal)who LOVED Fishermans cough drops when we would go out she knew right where Mike used to keep them, we would comehome and the wrapper would be all over the dinning room/living room and all the cough drops were GONE, and Mike used to love giving Rascal and our cat Gizzy the Listerine strips and laugh at them from them some what foam at the mouth but the dog and cat loved them too. And Mike used to wrestle with Rascal and one time he slapped her stomach and boy it sounded like she called him A**hole we used to swear she used to talk at times and how many animals do you know would get a plate like we eat off of at the holidays Rascal used to get her own plate and she used to sit up and bagg for her plate too it as so cute, and the dog and cat used to sleep together also wish we had the camera lots of times with them. Needless to say our animals were spoiled rotten lol.
Dennis, I thought I was the only one that had that problem. As soon as you go for the camera, they seem to sense that they are going to be recorded acting foolish. But I still grab it anyway. With the digital cameras, you can hit that shutter release all day and not worry about the film usage.
Most the antics my dog does are good for a camcorder, not a camera.
Every morning just before I leave for work, I give him his daily bone. It's actually not really just a bone, but a beef shin steak. Anyways, sometimes when I give it to him he takes it into the living room on my cream colored carpet. When I spot him, I go "not on that carpet, go on the red carpet" which is my burgundy oriental. He looks at me, picks it up, and walk over to the red carpet and drops it there to continue his eating.
Or the time, when there was a group of us in my living room talking and the dog was standing off to the side of us. He did a really loud fart, almost human sounding, and we all stopped talking and turned to look in his direction. When he saw this, he also turned his head to see what was behind him. We busted a gut with that one.
He's also bilingual. Sometimes if one of his bones is particularly good, he doesn't want to leave it behind. If I put his collar on to take him out, and he still has the bone in his mouth, I tell him to drop his 'weso' (bone in spanish), he opens his mouth and drops it to the ground.
Some time ago we had a siamese cat. She never really grew big. Maybe about 6 to 7 pounds? Anyways. The cat and dog both love chicken cold cuts. I remember one of my girls was snacking on some in the living room. She standing next to the arm rest of the sofa watching tv. The animals were begging. The cat was on the arm rest, the dog on the floor looking up at her. The cat started getting closer and meowing, so the dog jumped on the sofa, and gave the cat a nudge with his nose, and she she fell off of the arm rest like a rock. We felt bad for the kitty, but it was kinda funny because one minute she's there and the next she was gone.
Well i sleep all natural. I have 3 dogs, a Boston terrier (monkey) always sleeps in bed. An australian shep. (ruckous) that sleeps wherever he falls down. A pit (izzy) that sleeps in a crate (puppy). When the old lady woke up for work 1 morning the monkey was cuddlin with my butt. She took a picture without telling me. I bought her an ipod last week and put all her music on it and a folder or pictures she labeled favorites. Well in that folder was that picture and she forgot about that pic and was showing off her new ipod and work and about 5 of her friends saw it. Needless to say she is having a bunch of girls from work over saturday night Girls dig butt dimples.
I got her back and she is tired, but ok. Wow, anesthesia (priced by her weight) was the most expensive part of the procedure. A sample was sent to the lab and I will find out next week. Outwardly, it was a pink lump, about half an inch accross below her left ear. It took about a month to grow to the point where I realized that it was not a temporary skin irritation.
My dog Foster loves playing with a soccer bal. He bats it around the acreage with his front paws and flips it in the air with his nose. He plays l;ike that for an hour or so. He is a Blue Heeler.
Sadie the other heelr sleeps on her back with paws in the air.
Rosie the Pyrenes Collie mix. Well she is a blonde, but will protect the wife and makes a great bed warmer on these cold fall nights.
I don't take pics of my dogs because I just saw him do it...And while it may be cute to the owner, no one else really cares what your pet did. It's kinda like baby pics, people look and say "AWWW, ain't that cute" just to be polite.
We have always had two dogs. When we eventually lose one, we get another as soon as possible because I believe that a pup adds life to an older dog. They keep each other company and keep each other fit through their interactions.
Watching a younger dog play (or try to play) with an older dog is beter than any television I have ever seen.
Cricket (our 14 pound fox- and jack russel terrier mix) just wil not take no for an answer when she wants to play with Minnie (our 50 pound 6 year old yellow lab mix). She literally leaps up onto her back or gnaws on her back leg to get Minnie's attention.
When they get to wrestling around, I nearly bust a gut laughing every time.
As a bonus, Cricket loves to sleep in our bed. Now that it is cooloer out, I wake up each morning to her between myself and my wife. She is on her back with the covers up to her chin and her front paws curled over the top of the covers. What a great way to start the day. All I have to do is picture it any time during the day and I chuckle.
Had a cat for a while. He lived out in my shop. He was perfect companion out there as he wasn't in the way and didn't pester me for attention while I was trying to get some work done other than rub my leg for some ear scratches evey once in a while. Unfortunately, when i was hospitalized for 3 weeks 2 summers ago he moved on to greener pastures, despite the fact that I had a pet sitter come to feed him. I miss the little bugger, but having a 14 pound terrier that likes to relax in my lap in the evenings makes up for it.
