im back with more part swapping questions, i have the 1986 f150 with the 300 6 cyl and a automatic (c6 or c4 i dont know how to tell em apart) the truck has a lil tiny radiator i was wondering if i can swap it out for a 302 radiator for better cooling i dont know if the hoses and mounts will all line back up and work (this truck is going to be a drive and mainly a dunes truck i dont want it to run warm and that lil factory radiator makes me worry)

My Sons 85 F150 has a factory 1 row rad. He has a 302 EFI with a AOD.
So You shouldn't need a bigger rad. If you want more cooling get rid of the fan and fan clutch and put in a Electric fan.If you have a O'Reilly Auto parts store you can get a new efan or do a search here and you can find lots of info for efans and what to look for in the U pull it yards that will work.
If you want a bigger radiator get one for a 1986 F-350 with a 300-6 and a C6. It'll bolt in to the same spot as your single pass, but will be a big two pass or small 3 pass.
Only thing is they're about $250 vs. the $150 for a stock single pass.

There are two different radiator supports, one for a V8 one for a 6.
The V8 radiator opening is larger than the 6 cylinder type.
So if you use a larger radiator, you may have to trim the 300's radiator opening area.
C4 = 11 pan bolts / C6 = 17 pan bolts.
The C4's pan is squarish, the C6's pan has a large cutout.

I just got a radiator for a truck with AC & an auto (my '84 has a stick). The rad is a 2-row & about 7" longer than the original. If you look carefully, you'll find the additional mounts for the longer radiator. I never thought about getting one for a larger truck, thats a good idea. I'd rather pay more for a radiator than rebuild an overheated engine.
