Hey Maverick - welcome to FTE

I don't have any tips or methods for you on this but you might try asking in the New York Chapter near the bottom of the main forum page.

Take a mixture of simple green and water (50/50) in a spray bottle and soak the engine down when cold. Let it sit for about 10 minutes and rinse with water (repeat if necessary). Before you do that take a toothpick and stick it in the vent hole of the power steering or place a baggie over it. I use a toothpick. It won't have time to leach any water into the power steering unit. Also, try not to spray directly into the alternator. After you rinse it off, start the truck and let it run. This will only clean the engine. It won't make it all shiny and purdy (sic) like you see at the car shows. There are several products available for that after you clean it. There are also automotive detailing forums that you can check for more ideas. I have used simple green for years and my engines always look fairly new.
