This weekend i went to rent a movie from the video store, on my way back home i took a turn to sharp and caught my running board (wasn't paying attention). So with my eyes closed I jumped out of my truck when i opened them the site was not good. The board was smashed and the frame holding the running board was bent to crap. My truck did not suffer any body damage, thank god. The first thing i did was straighen them out the best i could and removed them from my truck. So this morning I was was looking for something to replace my damaged running boards and i came across rockerflares. http://www.rockerflares.com/pages/ro...res/index.html
Has anyone ever seen these on a truck before? I am curious to know what they would look like on my 2001 F-150 long box.
Here are some pics of my truck, you can see the clearance issue with the running boards. The diamond plate package on the truck is ford factory, dealerships can't even find replacement parts. Since the pictures have been taken i have removed all the diamond plate and put on a LEER topper. I wish i would have removed running boards before I damaged them. https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...?albumid=28466
When I bought my 05 F350 Crew last year it had a chip out of the driver`s side running board so I`m looking for either a factory or aftermarket replacement.
I sent an e-mail to CRE products to see if they have a canadian distributor, they don't. I can get a set for my truck for under 200 bucks, but the shipping will probably be $300
I sent an email to CRE products and asked how rockerflares would handle -40 degree celsius temps. This is the reply I recieved:
do not have a rating on the plastic. However it is a 3/16” High Impact ABS plastic. We are located in Logan Utah. We have been manufacturing the RockerFlare for almost 30 years. We see temps from -20 in the winter to 110 in the summer. We have not had a lot of issues as far as cold breaks, but it sounds like you are in the extreme of extremes. If you were to step on the RockerFlare at that temperature I am sure it would crack and break. We see the most winter breakage come from people who get slush and ice built up on the underside of the RockerFlare, then someone comes by and tries to kick the ice build up off of the truck. Then when the ice is kicked it will break the flare. Rocks from your tires hitting it should be fine.
(Just a note: RockerFlares are designed to protect your truck against rock chips, mud, tar and other road debris. They are not intended to support weight or be used as a step).
It is a great product that will benefit your truck, however I am just not familiar with your extreme conditions. If you have any other questions, call me direct.
