I am going to buy a new muffler for my 03 v-10 ex. I was wondering if anyone knew what the inlet size is on a stock muffler on an ex, and what the outlet size is, and if you can, how long the actual muffler is. It would be a great help for me, because I wanted to order it today, but my wife is out of town for a couple more days with the kids and the truck, so I wouldn't be able to measure any of this until thursday, and I would like to install it this weekend. Any help would be great. Thanks.
The inlet and outlet size are 3". As for the length the stock muffler is similar to the length of a Flowmaster 70 seres BB2 muffler, 22" case, 28' overall length. I never really measured the stock muffler, it was just cut off and thrown on the scrap pile.
Thanks DKF, I looked into that exhaust that you have, and flowmaster said that it will not, for some reason, fit on an excursion. The cheapest exhaust system I could find was 400 bucks, and it was Magnaflow, which I dont really want. So I figured the next best thing would be to just change out the muffler, and throw a nice tip on the end of the stock tailpipe. My buddy said he did that with his V-10 F-250 and it sounded great, and he never had a problem with it, so I guess thats the route I'm going to take. And 2manykids, thanks for the offer, but my stock exhaust is in great shape, so I wont need anything besides the new muffler and a nice tip. Thanks for the help.
