I have a 1999 F-250 V-10 with auto-trans,I recently noticed the red shift indiacator is not alingned up in the proper postion. When in D it is more towards the 2nd gear postion and when shifted all the way to 1st it feels like it is only going into 2nd. also when in reverse the indicator is more at the neutral sign. Has some linkage slipped somewhere?, the steering coloum has had some electric issue with the wiper handle, sometimes the wipers will not go to full speed until i turn the wheel, but i have not fixed that yet. thanks for any help David
I recently had the same problem. It turned out that on the side of the transmission under the truck the linkage is held in place with a piece of plastic that has some teeth on it to mate with another. For whatever reason, mine was loose and sloppy.
The simplest fix was just some contact cement. Everything is tight and right now. Don't worry that the contact cement will fail and cause a catastrauphic event. Once you see the set up you will realize it's just an adjustment piece
