Hey all. Short history, bought a new 2000 Ford Focus, sold it for a 2002 Mercedes c class, just sold that and am looking at a 1999 Expedition. I had the sell the C class because I have a new baby girl (6 months old) and the car just wasn't working (2 door hatchback). I've been looking at the Expedition for a while now. I just wanted to get some tips on what to look out for when buying one. I'm going on wednsday to look at a 1999 Eddie Bauer Expedition, with 160K on the dial.
Anyone got any tips on what to look out for and what service is coming up that needs to be done?
I own a 99 Exp. Eddie Bauer. 97K on it. Only trouble so far was rearend noise cured by changing fluid, OD button on shifter (wires frayed) replaced shifter. Great truck if you have kids. Never run out of room. I would definitely buy another one.
I have a 99 Eddie and love it, but a couple of things to look for:
1 Check engine passanger side under head for leaking oil, head gasket.
2 Check air and heat up front and in the back for blend door problems.
3 If it has the load leveling suspension listen for the compressor running.
Those are the only big things, but it is a great truck and I am sure you will like it.
