Well it's been about a month and finally torn the merc down this weekend and was supprised by what i found.Engine has large A on back of block left side,heads are C4AE,front pass.side on block5HK4-6?not sure about the 6 above on block just below head K11R and front drivers side too right of water pump SS2624.Number on frame drivers side C5TA HL121 the last may just be a stroke??The engine has brass head gaskets---oh and it run's so sweet!

From what I can tell you may have something more potent than your average 390. The large A leads me to suspect a 428 interceptor or CJ and I've found C4AE on 427 High Risers.
There are far better qualified number chasers on this site who can pinpoint your motor though. Looks like it's well worth seeking their knowledge.

That is what i suspect.Maybe i should post in the engine forum?
