Question Help with a rug

We have a rectangular area rug that was under our kitchen table. We now have put it in another room, but there is a crease/ fold area that must have been under the table leg. When you pull the rug taut the crease/fold disappears, but then when it relaxes the crease/fold reappeaars. Any way to get the crease out permanently? Thanks in advance for your help!

Maybe try steam cleaning it...or depending on how thick it is, irioning it...

Might not work, but you never know...When my clothes are wrinkled I steam them, so I would think it would work for a rug too...

Maybe pull it taut at the crease area and glue something stiff onto the back side. A thin sheet of plastic or similar.
