I Was Just Wondering If Anybody Is Famillier With The Superchip 1705 Programmer. I Have A 1996 7.3 Turbo And Just Wondered How Good They Work. Its Hard To Find Anything For This Year Truck.
I have one for my early 99. It will be leaving soon and will be replaced by a DP tuner.!!
Doesnt work "bad" just cant change on the fly and I think the power gains on your year of truck are not as much as the 99-2003 but I could be wrong.
Could also try the 94.5-97 forum
I also run it and am not sure what the power gains are but it cann't be that much. Plus its not as fun as the " shift on the fly" like the DP tuner would be.
Dont waste your money. Get you a Dp-Tuner or a Tony Wildman chip, their the best out for the 7.3's hands down. Only nice thing about the Supercrap programmer is that its a code reader other then that its not worth the money
I have run one on my pickup since it was new. It now has nearly 160k on her. I have only run in on the low tow safe setting and never had a problem. But I like others am saving to get a DP. My problem is the X is getting one first so my pickup will be waiting a while.
I used a Superchip for over a year in my 01 SD 7.3 with no problems. I towed my toy hauler using the 'tow performance mode' and used the 'high performance' for daily driving. This week I installed my DP-Tuner with the following tunes: stock, 60hp tow, and 80hp econo. My truck runs a LOT better with the DP than it did with the Superchip, it's more responsive and shifts a LOT better and should get better mileage. I plan on keeping the Superchip to use the code reader, I doubt I could get much for it if I sold it anyway. Call Jody at DP-Tuners tell him what your needs are and he will set you up for about the same amount of money you would spend on the Suyperchip plus you will get a MUCH better product.
