Somebody Stop Me

Well I've done another mod, got the viper 5900 alarm system installed today. Already was playing with the remote start and the turbo timer. Have another gauge on order should be in tomorrow and I'll be installing it on wednesday(fuel pressure gauge), but I'll have to make a custom pod for the steering column for it(hopefully I'll be able to do that). I'll post pics of it when it's done if anyone is interested. When will this mad disease of doing mods to my truck end? Two more years from now the ony thing that will be factory is probably the hood and the grill of the truck.

The only requirement that I have with regard to the ole ball and chain is that I make sure I have funds for our road trips, other then that I can have a ball, not able to afford the road trip, then something comes up missing(hoping the new alarm will work when that happens).

He makes it so easy to get hooked on this stuff too. I can imagine him being one of those "dealers" saying he doesn't sell the stuff, the stuff sells itself.

ITP Diesel, a site sponsor, has column mount single gauge pods for both manual and auto tranny applications. They also have a single pod for the A pillar that allows you to retain the grab handle.

My grab handle is already gone with a triple gauge pod and I have a triple gauge pod on my windshield by the mirror. Those single pods only go up to the 04 model years with regard to the ones made for the steering columns(what the differance is between an 04 6.0 and an 06 6.0 I don't know when it comes to the steering column, but I'm going to go off what they say). I'm just thinking I'll take a single pod, cut and paste, paint it and then throw it on there.

About the time you've maxed out two credit cards and you're running low 12's and you blow the freakin' motor apart and have to get another one.

BTW- Did I mention I blew mine up finally! 19,538 miles!! Shouldn't have put on both the NOS and the Water/Meth without a bit more testing. Never said I was bright, just wanted to go FAST!! Did that for half the track!! The rest of the run was just waiting to get to the end and watching the Chevy Duraturd STILL try to catch up.

That's one solution, you could also replace the three gage pod with a four gage pod for the A pillar. Just another option...

That's true, however, price wise even after my labor to fabricate it to fit the steering column it's still worth it to me to go on the cheap then to replace a perfectly good triple pod with a quad pod. I'm cheap, what can I say.

If I maxed out two credit cards, I think I would be kicked out of my own home for that. I have an understanding girlfriend and parents, but after that I don't think my parents would let me move back in. Also I don't think the pistons really liked all those drugs you were running, but I bet you enjoyed it while the trip lasted, huh?

Tex, did you install the alarm yourself or pay to have it done? I'm looking at having mine done this upcoming weekend and have thus far talked myself into paying extra for a professional installation.

I hate paying another $200 for that and always do my own wrenching, but this seemed like a case where paying someone else might be the smarter choice.

I'm like you, I do take pride in doing things myself, however, I'm not so full of pride that I won't shell out the extra money to have someone that does it on a regular basis to do it on my vehicle. Long winded answer to say that I had it done, it was worth it, 3.5 hrs and they were ready to roll. I would advise having it done for you unless you have either confidence in yourself to figure it out or you have done it enough times that you confident right off the bat that you know how to do it. I wasn't.

it isnt too bad the fords are some of the easiest because they dont have a factory theft deterent system you have to bypass & theres a ton of info on wiring, bulldog securitys website, code alarm website & 12 volt .com forums just to name a few. you really only have to actually cut 1 factory wire (the starter wire) the rest are all tag on(i soldered all my connections). it all depends on how elaborate you want to go I did relays on the headlights, parking lights, remote start, door locks, turbo timer, took a good weekend. about the hardest part is stuffing all that wire & making it look neat. I also see you have an 04 if you go with the remote start you may need a tach signal booster the 03 /04`s tend to have a weak tach signal that most remote starters cant pickup.
